In its session of 25 August 1967, the Council, presided over by Mayor Mr Agustí Margalef, unanimously agreed to pay tribute to the Doctors Salvador, Emili and Josep M. Gil Vernet, “... in honour of Vandellós and for the gratitude and affection all residents feel for them”. The decision was taken to name them honorary citizens of Vandellós and place a plaque “paying tribute to their memory on the façade of the house where they were born”.
In the 7 September session, the ceremony was set for the day of the Fiesta Mayor (Village Festival) and to place the order for the commemorative plaque paying tribute to them.
