José Ramón Sañudo at the Corso di perfezionamento in Anatomia Clinica dell’apparato muscolo-scheletrico: la pelvi

José Ramón Sañudo, professor of human anatomy at the School of Medicine at the Complutense University of Madrid, was a guest lecturer at the Corso di perfezionamento in Anatomia Clinica dell’apparato muscolo-scheletrico: la pelvi, led by Professor Rafaele de Caro, director of the Human Anatomy Institute of the Università degli Studi di Padova (Italy), which was held last May in the School of Medicine amphitheatre.

Professor Sañudo presented the anatomical works that he, alongside Dr J. M. Gil-Vernet, is carrying out on the male perineal musculature. This research reveals the anatomical errors that still tenaciously persist in discharged and treated anatomy patients, and that consider the existence – false existence as we’ve been able to demonstrate –, of the superficial transverse muscles and deep transverse perineal muscle.

During his lecture, and through the projection of numerous histotopographic cuts and anatomical drawings from the Salvador Gil Vernet Collection, Dr Sañudo gave a comprehensive presentation of what is real and what is mere fantasy in perineal anatomy.
