The Royal Academy of Medicine of Catalonia presents the book Contributions of Spanish Medicine to the World

The Royal Academy of Medicine of Catalonia held, on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., the presentation of the book Contributions of Spanish Medicine to the World, written by Miguel Á. Cuesta Valentín and Francisco Mateo Vallejo.

The event featured an address by Antoni Roca Rosell, Professor of History of Science and Technology at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, who offered an introduction to the work and highlighted the relevance of Spanish contributions to the development of medicine at an international level.

The session, which took place at the institution’s headquarters, brought together various professionals and individuals interested in the history of medicine, and underscored the importance of preserving and disseminating the scientific knowledge generated over the centuries.

In chapter 22, Dr. José María Gil-Vernet Sedó details the most notable achievements of the family lineage consisting of Dr. Salvador Gil Vernet, his grandfather, and Dr. José María Gil-Vernet Vila, his father.
