In October 2012, at the XXIX National Conference of the Paraplegia Society of Spain held in Seville, Dr. Joan Conejero, one of the most distinguished European specialists on neuro-urology, and current urologist in the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital (Barcelona), presented his findings: “Results of 102 Cases of Endoscopic Surgery to Relieve Obstruction in Traumatic Spinal Cord Injuries”.
His presentation included a description of the surgical anatomy of the external urethral sphincter using illustrations based on the works of Salvador Gil Vernet:
